6 years ago. Save. Hi, I agree with Tongo, I think my choice would also be Riva. Torbole is a lot smaller but, because of the many wind-surfing schools, it seems busier around the lakefront. Riva also has wind-surfing schools but the lakefront area is much longer so never feels as busy.

You can do it as a day trip via boat from Desenzano although it would be preferable to base in one of those towns.

First visit to lake garda was to malcesine in september -weather was ideal not too hot but bright .been back since -Limone is ok for a days visit but is really restricted -malcesine has beautiful woalk along the lake , the castle well worth a visit and the elights of the alpinemeadows above the funicular .No contest from my experience.
